My first blog post ever!!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to try out this blogging stuff real quick! Technology and I don't get along very well, so I am practicing!! I wanted to start blogging so we can stay in touch a little bit better and so you can get to know me a little better!

Bear Paw Festival is happening this weekend 7-12, 7-13, 7-14 in Eagle River, Alaska. Bring the kids for a fun time, they have carnival rides and a parade on Saturday. Alaska Chicks Co. will have two booths there this year, because last year we were packed in too tight!! The new tree zip ups (all 6 or 7 colors) should be done for the festival!! We will also have some new kids pullovers and zip ups as well! We will also have our new children's book entitled, "Little Alaska Chick" hot off the press from Anchorage!

We have a little boy book coming out soon entitled, "Made tough in Alaska"

We will bring as much stuff as we can from Palmer so you have a great selection of shopping this weekend. I hope you all can stop by and say hi!! I plan on being there as much as possible!

(I also wanted to touch base about the Anchorage Saturday Markets. I was hoping to do a few this summer and will still try to make it at least once. My hubby just found out he has thyroid cancer and has had two surgeries already to remove the tumor and his other thyroid. He will be running very low on energy as he prepares to take radio active iodine. I always try to keep my family first ahead of my business, as they are what is most important in life, so for this reason I most likely will not be doing very many Saturday markets this summer. I just wanted to touch base with those of you who asked.)

We are right by Carrs grocery store, the tan building with the boardwalk and big wagon wheels. We share a space with 4 other chicks who own their own businesses![/caption]

[caption id="attachment_182" align="alignnone" width="480"]This hutch needed help. The gold etching on the windows was the first thing to go! I scraped them off with a razor blade! I added a modern damask print to the back and painted the hutch black and distressed it for vintage style! The sealant shined it up nice! Sorry for the bad pic, all I had in the garage with me was my camera phone. This hutch needed help. The gold etching on the windows was the first thing to go! I scraped them off with a razor blade! Then I did this one in a fun lime green and added modern damask designs on the fronts. Perfect for an entry way or storage room. Great for the kids to each have their own locker! 1. Hi Charity! Nice start to your blog! I'm sitting outside in the sun pulling staples out of dining chairs I bought at Salvation Army last fall. I hope Neil is doing good. We will see you Friday at the Bear Paw!
